DIET: ATKINS

The “Atkins Diet” generally refers to weight loss nutritional regiments that are high in protein content and low in total carbohydrate content. Many of these regimens are intended to be used for short-term weight loss.  When the by diet outlined by Dr. Atkins is strictly followed, it results in reproducible weight loss in the first weeks after starting the diet. 

The Atkins regimen has clearly outlined “cautions” for patients that are on this diet, and it is clear that many of the so-called “complications” of this diet result from patients’ misinterpretation of the guidelines or completely ignoring the guidelines.
